My Story
My name is Julie, I am German and at the moment I live in Tenerife. I love reading, the heat, the sea and sports – especially swimming.
I was lucky to have a mother and father who were very interested in other cultures and their languages – thanks to them I grew up in a very international environment. I have lived in many countries… Germany, Poland, China, Singapore, Switzerland, Belgium, France, and now Spain!
I grew up speaking three languages simultaneously: my mum spoke French to me, my dad spoke German to me, and with the other children in the housing estate where we lived in China and later in Singapore, we spoke English.
When I was 17, I graduated from the Lycé Francais de Singapour with the «Baccalaureat ES».
As I got older, I kept on moving. I lived for a while in Belgium, where I learned Dutch. Then I moved to Switzerland to study Spanish at a University in France – during that course I did an Erasmus in La Laguna (Santa Cruz de Tenerife).
After finishing my Bachelor’s degree in France, I went back to Belgium (this time Brussels) and finished my studies as a translator at the Institut Supérieur des Traducteurs et Interprètes (ISTI).
I have always had an affinity for languages and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to engage with them to the extent that I am today.
